REGENERATION

by Leanne Dunic

You’ve heard of my axolotl cousin
Regrowing limbs, gills

And those nudibranchs in the sea
That self-decapitate, bloom new bodies

What of loss, of amputations
        and wounds

Powers dim with age, they say
But I disagree

I’ve projected phantom into flesh

See me        this wonder before you
